In-Game Character Information Name: Miles Edgeworth Series: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Age: 34 Background: Miles Edgeworth was born into a caring enough family in 1992; although due to marriage issues, his mother left the family at a very young age. Miles thought the world of his father and the job he chose to do (you could almost say he worshiped him) and whilst his father thought the world of his son, too, he was far too immersed into his work to really pay attention. At age 7, strange things began happening around Miles, and his father found it nothing short of a strange coincidence-- but that was it. He wasn't particularly cool as a child. He dressed smarter than everyone else, and mostly kept himself to himself. He only had three close friends, brought together by a class incident. Little did he know that the three wouldn’t be friends for long. One thing Miles would always remember about his childhood was so close to Christmas, it often ruined the holiday for him. December 28th, 2001. Miles is 9 years of age, and his father took him along with him to work (probably because he couldn't find a sitter on such short notice). His father worked as a Defense Attorney, and Miles had always wanted to see him in action. As it turned out, Miles would get to witness a very interesting case prosecuted by a well known and well feared rival. During the court battle, his father managed to reveal that the rival had falsified evidence which resulted in the first and only penalty the rival had ever received. His father still lost the case, and his client was still found guilty. But that didn't matter in Miles' eyes-- he got to see his father at work! Upon taking the elevator to leave, there was a blackout, and it caused the elevator to violently come to a halt. In that elevator, Miles' father was murdered and it would remain a mystery who the murder was for many years-- but Miles had a sneaking suspicion that he was the murderer, and it gave him reoccurring nightmares. Now fatherless, the rival took Miles in and took him to Germany. He left his childhood behind in America. It was in Germany that it would be discovered that Miles had magical ability, much to his new mentor's surprise. He would be sent to Durmstrang during his academic years and when at home in Germany, he studied wizarding law. He graduated from Durmstrang with top marks and settled into the role his mentor had laid out for him--to become a perfect prosecutor. He was corrupted and firmly believed that if there was such a thing as perfection, he could be it. At the age of 20, he was ready to try his first case in America. He won, and thus began his perfect win record; he would slowly become known to the world as the Demon Prosecutor. Along with his newfound nickname, rumors circulated that he was forging evidence and manipulating testimonies to gain a guilty verdict. Four years after his first case and things get a little fuzzy for Edgeworth--time skips, and certain bits and pieces just don't match. He was missing memories, and all he knew next was that he was in Paris, working with the local ministry. And then at 25, he was in America again, but not for long. The same situation creeped up when he turned 26--he kept coming back but he could never, ever remember why. He knew that there was something more here, that he was missing big parts of his life, and he could just see someone surrounded by a white light, but then the image would fade just as quickly as it appeared. In his time abroad, he managed to establish two excellent jobs--one at the ministry and one as a professor. He'd accomplished many things, and yet he still felt empty and betrayed, though he had no real idea why. As the years passed he entered his thirties, but was still doing much of the same. He'd settled into life, settled into his ways of thinking and surviving, but he'd been living the comfortable life for long enough now. He'd grown restless, and now believed it was time for a welcome change of scenery--he soon decided upon England for his next destination. It was the logical choice, as he'd spent a year or two settled in London during his traveling days. He'd always told himself he'd go back when the time was right. Now 34 years of age, the time was right. | Personality: Miles Edgeworth is stubborn, prideful and more often than not, a charming human being-- although it's not unknown for him to be blunt. He's very intelligent, having spent most of his free time stuck in copious amounts of books, and he's very much aware of it. Although he acts refined and gentlemanly, he has a very sharp tongue and there are aspects to his personality that are, at times, childish (for example, he has a fondness for childrens shows such as the Steel Samurai). Although, he's done his fair share of growing up over the past few years. He's calmed down and allowed himself the freedom to relax and discover everything he needed to discover. I solemnly swear that I am up to no good. His ego is very, very important to him. Should his pride, image or ego be ruined, he shuts down and runs away, unable to deal with the conflict at hand. Although he's more comfortable with the skin he's in, he still has unbearable urges to run the moment things start to go wrong, having never learned to cope in a realistic way. The trigger of running away can be set off by other things, as well, such as relationships that require more than just a friendly smile and a bowing of heads. He panics because he's never had anyone other than himself to rely on, and it makes him uncomfortable to share any information about himself on a personal level. Despite his businesslike persona, he maintains his own, private personality that only those he's comfortable around truly get to see. Just like everyone has a personality reserved for friends, Edgeworth reserves it for mostly himself. Whilst he's a social man, having been brought up in a type of place where dinner parties and other invitational parties would be held, he's also very cynical, sarcastic and sometimes even rude. He's very opinionated, loyal to the truth and believes in justice above all things. He has something called 'hysterical amnesia', which is triggered by a traumatic event that renders the mind unable to read correctly. His memory is hiding something from him, and although he can't quite discover what it is, he's happy enough to let it remain locked up for the time being, despite the niggling and constant feeling of guilt that he somehow played a part in his fathers murder. |
